Livery Yard and Stables
Stitchpool
Livery Yard is situated on the edge of Exmoor National Park with
its beautiful unspoilt countryside of tranquil moorland, winding
rivers and breathtaking coastline of secluded bays and spectacular
cliffs as well as quaint and picturesque villages, attractive towns
and charming harbours. There is something for everyone, especially
horse riders and close by to us are many quiet lanes, local tracks
and bridleways for out riding as well as sandy beaches a short distance
away to ride on although you would need to box there and obtain
permission beforehand.
There are 14 stables on the yard providing:
- Straw and haylage
- All year round turn out
- Lock up tack room
- Washing machine/tumble dryer for use on the
yard
- 20m x 40m outdoor sand school
- 5 bay rubber matting horse walker
- Show jumps and a few cross-country fences.
- Residential qualified instructor with a visiting
instructor as well
The
yard is ROA approved and the stables, yard, horse walker and school
are well lit during early mornings and dark evenings.
Residential liveries are taken on the yard with
the following being available:
(a) Full residential livery £85.00 per week
inclusive
(b) Part residential livery £50.00 per week inclusive
(c) DIY residential livery £30.00 per week to include straw
and haylage.
Should you wish to come and stay at Stable Cottage
and bring your own horse/s full and part liveries are available
to you as well as DIY holiday livery at £10.00 per night.
Hay and straw are included but not feed.
Clipping, mucking out and exercising can be done
for you, should you require a days break or two when you visit
us on holiday.
Also available are adult lessons at £15.00
and £25.00 per hour
We
have a regular blacksmith who also does surgical shoeing and use
a local equine practice, who are reliable and helpful. Both have
an excellent reputation.
There are three packs of hounds in the area, two
foxhounds namely Exmoor and Dulverton West and one staghounds,
the Devon and Somerset.
Around the area during the summer months there are
many shows with classes to suit all from showing classes, novice
jumping, experienced jumping and BSJA. There are also many show
jumping and dressage competitions for all to join in and BHS La
Trecs. Close by are three cross country courses, one holds regular
British event competitons as well as an indoor school with clinics
by top competition and event riders held throughout the year.
The yard has undertaken breaking, schooling and
problem horses and has immense experience in all aspects of equine
life.
